Commonly known as the “Underground Pamukkale”, Kaklik caves have similar structure as the travertine and are one of the most visited tourist attraction in Denizli region. The attraction was not discovered until its roof collapsed naturally and was opened to visitors since 2002. It is located at a distance of 45 kilometres from Pamukkale and is ideal for a half-day trip.
The local name of these caves is Kokarhamam Pinari meaning Smelling bath foundation. The name is derived from the water that comes out of the caves which has a pungent smell due to excess presence of sulphur and sodium bicarbonate.
The unusual natural formations make Kaklik caves a white beauty and are worth observing!
