Basilica Of Bom Jesus, Panaji Reviews - Write a Review
UNESCO World Heritage Site It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and located in Old Goa, which was the capital of Goa in the early days of Portuguese rules. It is really beautiful. It also has the Relics of St Francis Xavier. Very calm, quiet and peaceful place. You get to see the hand and the side face as its kept way above the eye level. It's much of interest of you are into archeology or old excavation stories. Photography not permitted on the inside yet you can see almost the entire crowd snapping pics. You will not most probably feel anything in a spiritual sort especially because of the huge crowd surrounding you and the chaos they create with all the tour guides and the photography inside the church. Yet you can always pay a short visit to the church for its historic value and its architectural designs. There is enough to walk through the inside of the church and hence it would be comfortable if you pack lightly. Would suggest avoiding going there in afternoon, it’s so hot.
One of the Oldest Church in Goa also a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is so majestic that one is filled with awe. Is said where Francis Xavier's (1506-1552) body was placed. Visited by almost all faith holders, it is one of the main attraction for tourists. Was really blessed to have visited this place.
Good place to visit in Old Goa. One can find guides who know everything about the place and can give adequate information about the place. Nice and well maintained. The floor is of marble inlaid with precious stones. Apart from the adequate planning to cover the place where the offerings/prayers are done with a thin layer of gold, the interior of the church is simple. The main platform holds the statue of the founder of the society of Jesus. In the Church there are paintings of St. Francis Xavier. The Basillica of Bom Jesus is more than 400 years old and is open to people every day for offering prayers. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This emerged as a landmark in the history of Christianity.
This is historical place, a must visit place for christian, oldest structured building, Famous throughout the Roman Catholic world, the imposing Basilica of Bom Jesus contains the tomb and mortal remains of St Francis Xavier, the so-called Apostle of the Indies. St Francis Xavier’s missionary voyages throughout the East became legendary. Must visit.
This is the best historical place in Goa. And even spiritual place where you can get guides for a good information. There is a dead body of saint Francis Xavier which is the famous attraction of this church. Don't ware sleeveless shirts or short pants it's not allowed in the church. You will not get entry in the church. It's really a great place. Here you can get English, Marathi And Hindi guides as per I know...
