Naguesh Temple - Review

The Naugesh Temple about 25 kilometers from Panaji is the most important religious place for Hindus in Goa. The temple is dedicated to the Goan God “Naugesh” or “Naugeshi”. There is a beautiful stone tablet at the entrance which dates back to 1413 AD.

Another fascinating thing about the temple is The sanctuary which has an old tali (water store) flanked by palms. Inside it there is a reservoir in which the reflection of the Naugesh idol directly falls making it a mesmerizing sight for the devotee. Worth noting at the sanctuary are the colorful pictures of divine beings and goddesses around the base of the deepstambha (light tower) that are regarded with utmost devotion.

  • Really nice place. Although one warning to all parents kindly attend your children's all time as there is lake infront of temple and there were few unfortunate incidents which happened at the lake. Otherwise perfect place to explore beauty of Goa.

  • Had nice darshan , also had food in the form of Prasad very delicious

  • Nagueshi or Nagesh is a form of Lord Shiva worshipped by Hindu  in Goa & India. The temple lies in verdant surroundings in the Ponda district of Goa. Unlike many other Hindu temples of Goa which were shifted out of the Velha Conquistas the Nagueshi Temple is at its original place. It has, however, been renovated a number of times. It is located in Bandode village, Ponda, North Goa district. Within the temple precincts is a magnificent tali or water reservoir surrounded by palms. The reservoir is built so that standing at a certain location around the tali, a person can view the reflection of the idol of Lord Naguesh and the lighted lamps in the inner sanctum.

  • Great and ancient temple, great aesthetic. AC as well as Non-AC rooms available. Canteen does offer snacks. Helpful people. A small pool for swimming. Overall a great and blessful experience!

  • Shri Nagesh Maharastra temple is one of the famous temple in Goa situated in Bandora village of Ponds taluka. It is just 4 kms from Ponds bus stand. To reach there you get taxi rickshaw or if you are single motorcycle pilot available. Actually Nagesh is Lord Shiva. This temple belongs to samarth branch of GSB community of Goa. Almost all utsawas are performed here during the year similar to other temples around here. The temple is very beautiful and it's buity is glorified by Nouukavihar Talav which is in front big the temple. Another attraction here is that if you stand at other side of the Talav you can see the idol of Nagesh in the waters of Talav (lake). Visit once, get blessings of God and feel good your visit.
