Pafos Zoo - Review

Pafos Zoo isn’t exactly that well known, but it’s a treasure regardless. It’s actually quite large and more than a little popular for it’s bird and parrot shows so that its unique park in Cyprus. It was originally a private collection of birds and the now public zoo is the third largest of it’s kind in Europe. The Paphos Zoo has been consistently acquiring animals over the last few years such as zebra, giraffe, gazelle, primates, white lion, tigers and elephants.

Visitors love the zoo for it’s neat organisation, cleanliness, friendly staff and children especially love the petting area, where they can get up close and personal with the animals. There are plenty of shaded areas around for snack and rest and the zoo restaurant isn’t half bad. Do not under any circumstance miss the bird and parrot show; the animals are highly well trained and the experience is supposed to be irreplaceable. If you want a distinctly non-archaeological Paphos experience, you couldn’t ask for better.

  • A good family afternoon out whilst the sun disappeared for a while. More animals than we expected and they seemed very lively which was entertaining. Not overly busy and the bird show was very good. My favourite was the elephant! Very good value for money.

  • Great day had by all of the family. The staff who put on the bird show were fantastic and we all had the to meet a baby tiger, stroke him and have photos done which was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Some other great animals and plenty of refreshments.. all in all a brilliant day

  • Lots of animals to see including a very good reptile area and if birds are your thing, this place is great. The tigers were very impressive! Overall I'd say the standard of living for the animals seemed good, on par with other zoos in mainland Europe. The bird show was great and I'd heartily recommend it with children. I would say the groundkeeping needs work as some of the bushes were overgrown around the enclosures which made it hard to see the animals in some cases. Also, the entry fee was not cheap, so to pay extra for some of the enclosures, I thought, was quite cheeky. Overall, quite a good zoo and worth the trip if you're in the area.

  • Lovely little treasure to spend a few hours. Cheap to gain entry and the bird show is a must. Spent around 3hrs here and got the free bus transfer. Ideal place to visit if you want a break from sunbathing.

  • Not awful by any stretch. Would be nice if some of the enclosures were bigger but it was fine. The staff were friendly and the parrot show is Def worth it. Lots of wild birds and lizards running about which was cute too.
