The Grand Synagogue of Paris is one of the spectacular structures in the city. Built in the 1870s, this is considered to be one of the biggest synagogues in Paris owing to its capacity to accommodate over 1,500 people at a time. Even though the structure is influenced by the classic style, its embellishments with Byzantine frills make it unique. The interior walls have several religious inscriptions and stained-glass windows add to the beauty of the synagogue. This landmark place of worship is also the seat of the chief rabbi of Paris. Keep in mind that it is open for arranged visits only.
