La Madeleine Church - Review

L’eglise de La Madeleine is a beautiful Parisian church that lives up to its grand legacy and history.

Dedicated to Napolean’s valorous army, the La Madeleine is an imposing church that honours Mary Magdelene. Built in a neo classical style, the church has 52 Corinthian columns and 3 domes lavishly decorated by Renaissance artworks.

The church has an exceptional pipe organ, designed by Cavaillé-Coll and it also hosts moving concerts that pay tribute to the greatest composers of our time. La Madeleine Paris tourist attraction added in 3 Days In Paris Itinerary

La Madeleine Church, Paris Reviews

  • Such a beautiful and historically-significant church, central in the heart of Paris and elevated as a living monument to show its classical beauty. We watched Mozart’s Requiem and it was other-worldly. The acoustics are incredible and the place is unique. A wonderful venue.

  • It is not hard to overlook this building with all that is going on in and around Paris as you bustle about but take the time to stop and look at and enjoy this fantastic and historical landmark. Walk around it and stop to consider the history and work that went into the creation of this significant landmark. Totally worth it.

  • In my opinion, this is one of the most under- appreciated sights in Paris. This is a Greek-style church that was originally build as a dedication to Napoleon. The columns, facade and interior are exquisite and bring you to the foothills of history itself. Ancient Greece has been brought to the last few hundred years. Not an endorsement of the Catholic Church, but they often have the best buildings around.

  • Impressive. Must visit building. True Parisian gem.

  • Nice church, very interesting inside. Take your hat off when you get inside though.
