Inspired by the Boboli Gardens, Luxembourg gardens are a green haven in middle of mostly-grey Paris. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and impressive fountains, the gardens are adorned by tree lined promenades and healthy, lush green lawns. A welcome change from the hustle-bustle of a thriving metropolis, there are many activities to keep you busy at Luxembourg gardens. Some of the best gardeners in Paris have transformed the gardens into a living artwork. The Luxembourg Gardens are dotted with statues of French royalty and mythical gods along with some enchanting spaces like the mini Luxembourg gardens. Great place to have a picnic and people watch. Perfectly manicured grass that make sleeping in a park seem like a reasonable life choice. The lawns are well kept and people are only allowed on the southernmost lawn facing the front. Gardens close at 2100h at which point the park guardians go to town with their issued whistles.
Beautiful to walk through during the day, or enjoy a baguette picnic lunch. Sadly, the gates are closed during the early morning so your morning runs will be around the gates - lots of Parisian runners to keep you company though! There seems to be an unspoken 'no one on the grass' rule, so people only sit on the chairs provided in the gravel areas - a concept foreign to most Australians. A bit weird to bask in the sun and not be lying down on the grass with your eyes closed. Still a lovely place.
Green spaces in the city is always a hit. Nice gardens, lots of places for kids to play and running/Jogging tracks. Complete with fountains and botanical gardens! Loved it
Always charming and relaxing to stroll through here. Grab a chair by the fountain and watch little kids sail their toy boats. The public toilets are surprisingly clean too.
We have a good time visiting in the summer, but if you are going in the same season, experience the gardens first, in the morning when is still not to hot, and then do the inside of the castle. We eat at Angelina restaurant and it was a little over price but really good, there are a couple of cafes that will do it fine if you don't want to spend dinner fare for lunch.
