A public square nestled between the Tuileries Garden and the museum, Place du Carrousel is a historically significant square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. The former site of a palace which was destroyed by a fire and whose ruins were demolished by the French National Assembly, Place du Carrousel is home to the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel which is a major point of interest here. Honoring the military successes of Napoleon, the arch was constructed between 1806 and 1808 and is worth viewing when in the neighborhood.
