One of the un-ignorable spots of Paris is the Place du Tertre. Although the spot is filled with tourists and portrait artists, it previously used to serve as the public square for the city. In fact, the square used to be the main square of Monmartre village before the village was turned into a part of the city. Today, nearly 300 painters, portraitists and caricaturists have made Place du Tertre as their permanent venue to display their masterpieces. Nearly 1 square meter of the land is dedicated to the painters who have the permission to put up their easels for their work.
If you love seeing painting exhibitions or wish to get your portrait done, visit this popular spot to see some of the unique masterpieces in the field of art.

Must visit place in Paris. Very well connected with public transport. Avoid the steps and take the Funicular (small uphill train) up to Montmartre and then it's a 2-3 minutes walk to Place du Tertre . You can find a lot of souvenir here. We found the postcards to be the cheapest here. Very good food places and night life here. This place is very famous for artists and portrait artists. The artists start showing up around 9.30 AM.
Food around this place is excellent! I tried a grill cheese sandwich with and egg on top, the best! They will try to sell your portrait or a cut out of your face, if you give them a chance, they work fast. Arrange the price before hand. They do an amazing job.
I think this place used to be nicer before it became crazy tourist attraction. There are some fantastic artist but there are others who sell things that don't belong there and make some tourists feel uncomfortable by grabbing them and trying to make their cut out shadow art. On the other hand, it's great to have a coffee or a glass of wine here and people watch.
Beautiful place if you can get through the endless steps. Definitely get a portrait done by one of the artists. Plenty of coffee shops and restaurants to choose from too
It is quite pleasant to walk during the day even more in the evening. A variety of restaurants offer delicious food. Street artists fill the main square.
