About Pont Alexandre Iii, Paris

The foundation stone for this beautiful, extravagant and ornate bridge laid in 1896 by the man who would go on to become the last Tsar of Russia, Emperor Nicolas II;the bridge is named after his father, who concluded the Franco-Russian Alliance in 1892. For over a hundred years, the beauty of this bridge has captured the hearts of artists, photographers, filmmakers, and songwriters. The inspiring romance of this bridge was hard achieved: the architects were under strict orders that under no circumstances should the Champs-Elysees or the Invalides be obscured. As such, the techniques used in its creation are something of a 19th Century engineering wonder. The Bridge features prominent in several videos ranging from James Bond Movies to Adele music videos.

  • I headed towards one of the most famous bridges in Paris soon after sunrise to admire the surroundings before traffic comes through. The bridge is beautiful, and it's surrounded by iconic buildings. Even the Eiffel tower shows in the distance. A marrying couple were posing for a photoshoot, and another photographer was on his skateboard filming an artist's music video.

  • This is a beautiful location. It’s a great sight to see. Great place to get photos. Even if you don’t visit it directly, you are sure to pass it in your journeys.

  • With so many impressive buildings and the brilliant light show from the Eiffel Tower after dark it is easy to overlook the bridges but the Pont Alexandre 111 is an essential visit on a trip to Paris. A very eye catching pleasing structure.

  • One of the most beautiful bridges over Seine. It's centrally located and attracts a lot of people for taking photos. It had also good views towards Eiffel tower.

  • The one you see in the movies, but in real life. It’s a bridge. You can cross from one side to the other, and back. As many times you want. For FREE. And without stepping into the river.
