Khao Kheow Open Zoo - Review

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo is certainly a part of the unique Thailand experience. In this zoo, the animals roam freely whereas the humans have to sit in glass cages (don’t worry they are buses) and view them. This spirit of giving the animals their space is much appreciated by most people.

You get to see an amazing variety of animals in their element here. From the wild cats to birds of prey, from adjutant storks to red avadavats, the variety of species is simply mind-boggling. You can even see a huge colony of flamingoes in the middle of the zoo. These lovely animals and birds have been preserved in a favorable and habitable environment and hence thrive in it.

The park is dedicated to conservation and they also have a section on gibbon rehabilitation if you wish to see it. Additionally they also have a host of wildlife adventure activities for kids as well as adults. Be sure to visit this one if you are travelling with kids.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Pattaya Reviews

  • This is the very place you should visit if you go Thailand with kids. Don't forget to purchase foods for animals before go into the zoo. You can use your own car or taxi but rent a golf cart and traveling around the zoo is the best way to enjoy this beautiful zoo. And have enough time to spend in zoo. Less than two hours is not enough to enjoy. We'd spent 4 hours in this zoo but all my kids said 'it's not enough!'

  • Nice openly zoo close to wild animals. Right after the gate there are a lot of booths to sell vegetables and bananas small $50 large for $100. Suggested large one because you will definitely finish it in last stop, elephants. Almost no need to walk the zoo car takes you to main stops. Be care of monkeys, they tend to take bananas from girls look small to them. Anyway better than my expectation.

  • Beautiful place for relax and enjoy with wildlife. Many animals with big place and's not safari, but some different animals stay together and you can see it in fauna for them. Have about 5 place with show 2-3 time per day with schedule time for start, for one day you can enter to all show (on sat-sun & holiday more time from another day).

  • Variety of animals for affordable price 250 THB person. Must see location for family with kids, u can take golf cart for 500 THB For 2 hrs 4 person can sit. Don't miss the hippo, rhino, cat complex, elephant show, penguin the lion and many others animals

  • A much nicer zoo - open and closer to nature - than Dusit Zoo or Safari World, and much cheaper than Safari World (although for walking around, Safari World is more pleasant: flatter terrain, more shade). Overall it has a relaxed atmosphere (somewhat neglected?) and some of the spaces for the animals were beautifully designed, like the gibbon island and hippo pond. It's quite hilly, so highly recommend renting a golf cart. You can also pay to drive through in your own car, but that's not so nice for the rest of the visitors. There are a lot of wild monkeys running about, which can be a little scary, esp for little kids. Also not so many places for humans to dine. Unfortunately a tad far from our part of town in Bangkok, so difficult to visit casually. Feeding the animals was fun, food sold for B20 in front of the respective animals, but you can get a big bag at the parking lot for about B100, which is apparently the better deal.
