We had such a nice drive getting there and then it was just a short walk to the water. There were other people there, but when we crossed the water we had plenty of room for ourselves to put our stuff down and swim all day. And my dog swam too! It was a lovely day!
Having grown up in Nevada City, naturally, I love the Yuba River. Hiking/running the trails provides beautiful views. If you're gonna swim, big smooth basking rocks and swimming holes are plentiful. Just be careful of the current, especially in the Spring.
One of the best places I've ever seen. Nature at its finest! Beautiful and relaxing.
Very beautiful area but $10 day use charge is pretty hefty considering the minimal services here. Should be free ideally or max $5 to park a car. Parking here is minimal so plan ahead. We would have paid the parking and even made a special stop before hand to get cash but there was no parking available. We had to park up the hill, which was free, but then a long hot walk to get to the park area. Might be back but might explore elsewhere too.
It was a nice place. Since this was our first time here we did not expect it to have so many rocks, going down to the river and in the river. There was an area deep enough to go swimming and the kids enjoyed that. I would go back but bring water shoes. It was slippery. There was no sandy beach area if that is what you are looking for.
