About Sunset Winery, Penneshaw

Wine with cheese never gets old; nor does traipsing around a pretty wine-countryside trying to find the area’s best vintage. Visit the Sunset Winery’s cellar door and try out their 6 different wines. Food-wise you’ve got the options for a ‘Savoury Platter, or a ‘Dukkah’, which is Fleurieu, served with our local Wild olive oil and delicious local bread. At the winery you can also buy locally grown goods – relishes, sauces, soaps, candle and syrup. You can also buy examples of local art.

Trivia: Sunset Winery is the first winery in Johnson County since prohibition.

  • Really great restaurant showcasing local ingredients. We had the evening degustation menu and they prepared a special set of courses for my pregnant wife, including her own printed menu. Plan to be there around sunset for some unforgettable views. It's not cheap but we'll worth it. Thanks so much!

  • We had a 8 course lunch and the flavors were wonderful, from KI Snook pate and condiments yum, Ricotta gnocchi and Stout cake with salted caramel, all top off with a beautiful view overlooking spectacular beach and countryside , great way to spend an afternoon.

  • Great view. Food well presented but too much salt and portions very small.

  • No wine tasting. There is a cafe only. You can sit down and order wine by glass. KI prices of course. The wine is not bad. Nice view

  • We just liked everything about this place. Dinner was delicious. The wine good (produced but not grown here), the views amazing. Everyone was super friendly and fun to talk to, but also left the calm atmosphere speak for itself.
