Periyar National Park, Thekkady Reviews - Write a Review
A historically and geographically important forest area in Kerala which is also a tiger reserve area where you can see tigers and elephants in good numbers. There are other animals too which can be spotted especially during a boating in the Periyar river. There is a very famous Shiva temple in the area. There are a good number of resorts and home stays too for the people who want to stay overnight. Try to hire a bicycle and enjoy a ride which will be a little adventurous and memorable too
Good scenic beauty. But difficult to get tickets for the boat safari. Limited number of boats operate for tourists compared to the crowd demand. Ticket price is very high. Can see wild animals only if luck favors.
Periyar national park is good only to see nature ,but if you searching for tigers this is not a place for you. This park has a very rare chance to see tigers even the guides had seen tigers like 6 times in last 10 years. Eco tourism activity's are good and well organized. I recommend jungle scout and border hiking
Good experience, bamboo riding is also there as was raining not tried out, went on boat ride, can see wild animals. Really drift through tropical forests. Gods own country.
Amazing national park, very well managed. Of all the Indian national park I visited, this is probably the most well organised and maintained. Online ticket booking is the best option, to avoid unnecessary queues and also beat the daily ticket quota limitation. Carry identification cards of all the members on the ticket. All the activities provided by the park are mentioned on their website and available for booking subject to availability. Payment can be made via cash, debit and credit cards. Non carnivorous animal sighting is common but carnivorous animal sighting is difficult as the park has thick forest growth. Lots of bird sightings. Overall you need two or more days to stay at Periyar to enjoy the park. You can choose to stay within the park buffer zone or stay outside the park at any one of the hotels available. There are food chains inside the park. Before booking any activities via the website, read the activity details such as duration, necessary precautions, etc. as these things are not clearly mentioned.
