Periyar National Park, Thekkady Reviews

  • It is a natural place where we can see the real nature and real wild life. When we introduced with such things, we realize the actual position of mankind in this universe. I always love plants and nature . Therefore I liked this place very much. This is my most lovable memory forever.

  • Periyar Tiger Reserve  is worth visiting for its scenic treat! Periyar River is the longest river in Kerala and supplies water to the nearby towns and villages. Hence, aptly called the 'Lifeline of Kerala,' as informed by our local guide. The one hour boat ride in search of wild life was the most memorable one! We saw many elephants, wild cattle, wild pigs, deers.... but no tigers :( The submerged trees add to the romanticism especially in the evening! There  are plenty of monkeys..... and some of them very aggressive. Avoid feeding them. The guides  are  very friendly and passionate about their  jobs! The Periyar Tiger Reserve authorities are  doing a great job to preserve the natural heritage. 👏👏👏

  • One of the best places to visit in Kerala. You will get entry pass from the forest department office. Bus service are provided till the top of the hill. There is a small trekking also. Such a beautiful place you will never forget. Don't miss the chance.

  • It is a natural place where we can see the real nature and real wild life. Though Tigers are rare to be seen. We got to see bear. Elephants were also rare to be seen. Jeep safari is good option.

  • We did a trek and bamboo raft. The trek on the way to Lake Periyar was pretty weak. We trekked along a road used by the park's jeeps, so we didn't really feel like we were exploring. The bamboo raft was a little slow paced for me, but I can see why people would enjoy it. The trek back was much better. We went off the large path to a single-person wide path through the jungle. It felt much more natural and we even ran into a pack of wild elephants! The elephants definitely salvaged the experience, otherwise the rating would be much lower.
