Rockpool Bar And Grill, Perth Reviews
Excellent fine dining experience. Had the Neil Perry signature tasting menu. The highlights were the king prawns with goats cheese tortilini and the rib eye (very tender, cooked perfectly and very tasty). Would have rated 5 stars but they’d run out of oyster makers which I was really looking forward to. Highly recommended.
We had a pleasant experience from the time we arrived. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant decor was much more aesthetically pleasing in person than in the photos and allowed for conversation. The food was reasonable as was the wait time. I just had to try an eye fillet that had been aged for 36 months. The standouts for me were the cauliflower and cheese gratin and the Black Forest desert was to die for. I thought some of the prices were over the top but overall a pleasant dining experience.
The food here is absolutely fantastic. We literally come here every 3-4 weeks. Some little issues that need attending to (which I have discussed with the lovely Dan), but other than that. It's always a memorable dinner. Very very recommend!
Rockpool is impressive from the start. Beautiful lighting, modern furniture. Helpful and sincere staff. As many reviewers have already said, the bread and butter sets the tone. A very long list of drinks is fun but in the end the recommended Italian sour was pretty good. My partner and I shared a raw fish tasting plate - subtle flavours and some fish I have never eaten before. We then ordered the $60 fillet and $129 sirloin just to compare with each other. Both were amazing but the depth of flavours in the sirloin is why it's so expensive. The deserts were very good. Thanks for a fun night out!!
Considering the expensive prices here we expected a lot more. The food tasted no better than something that could be quickly made at home. The portion sizes were scarce, which would be fine if the quality and flavours were of 5 star quality. The sirloin steak was chewy. The service was also average, while the waiters/waitresses were polite and professional it was difficult to get their attention when needing something. Overall the food was alright but when weighing it up with the price we paid ($250) for two of us it didn't seem worth it. Also please don't bother with the automatic reply about feedback being passed on as we were asked how our meals were and after explaining our issues no care for our feedback was evident and no further comment was made.
