A relatively new attraction in Perth is the Whipper Snapper Distillery. Although western Australia is mainly known for its wines, this distillery hopes to add another spirit to the list. It is Australia’s first Bourbon whiskey producing distillery. Although law states that only whiskey produced in the United States may be referred to as bourbon, the owners refer to the spirit produced here as a salute to the fine Bourbon whiskeys of America. Their first product is a bourbon style whiskey called the Crazy Uncle. Visitors to the distillery can participate in talks by Master Distillers or in the Whiskey Workshops conducted here. There is also a cafe on the premises and one can have a cup of coffee if not in a mood for heady alcohol.
