This is a paleo-Christian circular temple which dates to the 5th and 6th century and is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The place was made into a fort in 1479 but was restored in 1948 to reveal closed windows and ancient frescoes. You will find Corinthian capped columns here inside the church which is famous for the Romanesque style of architecture along with Byzantine influences in the placement of chapels.

  • When you turn the corner and approach the first church in Perugia, you ate transported back to the early Middle Ages. Nothing has changed. Not the park. Not the view. The kind of unique experience few if any other sites can offer. It’s a long walk from the city center but worth every step.

  • Tranquil little church with a unique architecture, worth a visit.

  • Fascinating place. Very modest interior which imo makes it a great scenery for religious purposes. The entrance features a magnificent little garden, ideal for picknick and also nice for sunsets.

  • Impressive old temple. Not a common experience to explore a room me Christian temple from the old old times. Particularly peaceful...

  • A quiet respite on the edge of the city walls. Take a moment to feel the cool inside or on the benches under the trees.
