Tousey House Tavern Reviews & Ratings

  • We had lunch here as a Mother Daughter day out and had some wonderful southern food. And by "southern", I don't mean soul food. Nothing was greasy and they didn't cook everything with meat or meat by-products. Their menu is varied and it's obvious that a lot of thought was put into it. The food was fresh and well cooked. The desserts were most definitely homemade. The restaurant itself was relaxing and quaint. They have a cozy bar area, an outdoor deck, and the upstairs would be great for groups. There is a rich history in the house which has been preserved. This place would be great for a nice lunch, especially if you want to impress some clients. It would also be awesome for date night but I can see going there for a couple of drinks and a quick bite to eat at the bar as well. If you're in the area, it's a must go. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Love their food. The garden salads are fresh. The fried green tomatoes are a favorite. We order them every time we go. The Reuben is great. Hot slaw delicious. Make sure to ask about the daily specials. Their chef there comes up with some pretty good dishes! The service is friendly and quick. Good for quick lunch or romantic dinner!

  • Great little historic tavern! We stopped in mid-afternoon during a road trip. Had the cheese and meat tray ( the menu item has a fancier. name ). It was a pretty generous portion with two kinds of crackers, two meats and two cheeses plus fruit. Service was excellent and so was the food. They also have a full bar, and two outside seating areas, both offer some shade.

  • Great place to grab lunch out on the patio on a nice day. But the interior is also elegant and charming. The shrimp & grits and fried green tomatoes were excellent appetizers—might even fill you up before the entree! Especially the tomatoes, which had a perfect fry on the outside. The fried chicken, though delicious, lacked the homestyle texture and flavor I was craving.

  • This is one of the best restaurants in Kentucky. The service is excellent and the food is so delicious you will crave it the next day. They are well known for their fried chicken but you can't go wrong with the salmon either.
