Also famous as Cave of the Red Stones, Petralona cave features rock formations that resemble pink pearls, delicate curtains, giant cactus, and rigid columns. Discovered accidentally by a villager, the cave features stunning formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The Anthropological Museum of Petralona at the cave site is home to various tools made using bones or stone which were used by the initial inhabitant of the cave. While the cave has great archeological as well as paleontological significance, it makes for a unique place to explore in Halkidiki.
