Also famous as Cave of the Red Stones, Petralona cave features rock formations that resemble pink pearls, delicate curtains, giant cactus, and rigid columns. Discovered accidentally by a villager, the cave features stunning formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The Anthropological Museum of Petralona at the cave site is home to various tools made using bones or stone which were used by the initial inhabitant of the cave. While the cave has great archeological as well as paleontological significance, it makes for a unique place to explore in Halkidiki.

Cave Of Petralona Reviews & Ratings
The one star is for them not updating their hours on Google. This cave is closed for extensive repairs until at least 2021. Do not go without calling first to make sure it's open!!! Google says it's open right now and it is not.
I didn't find it. The "trip" was quite interesting ...
Some cosy museum! Very scientific!
This is a unique underground museum and world, that takes you through the living of the first humans. With an attatched museum of all the finding and history. Unfortunately you're not allowed to tale pictures and worst, you can't buy any proper ones neither. Photo is from the pack of postcards I could get from the place. My 5 star rating is based on the uniqueness of the caves.
Great to see, recommended! Unfortunately you won't be able to take photos but cave is amazing.. Small train takes you there, worth to see!
