Painted Desert Visitor Center Reviews & Ratings

  • Reminiscent of a family vacation we took when I was 10 (I'm 58), it was one of our stops on the way to California from Virginia. The staff was pleasant and informing. A great experience and I can mark it off my bucket list.

  • Amazing park, and the rangers/employees at the center are so kind and helpful! Definitely stop in both visitors centers on both ends of the park. They take real pride in making this the best experience possible!! The views do not compare to anything I’ve ever seen. A MUST SEE!!!

  • Really enjoyed the Petrified Forrest national park. Helpful staff at the visitor center. Beautiful park with varied landscapes. Definitely worth a stop.

  • A nice place to start before your trip. Take a pit stop, get gas at their gas station chat with a park ranger pick up some post cards and a coffee mug and then hit the trail. It's just a small drive up the road from there until you hit the guard station where you either pay to enter or show then your park pass.

  • Cannot drive by. It is 2 minutes from I-40. Go to visitor center and get your free stamps. Steve is the best!
