Wilhelmsburg, also known as The Fortress of Ulm, is one of the largest fortifications in Germany. Built in the eighteenth-century, this castle was used for military purpose and as a refugee camp for most of the time. There is a beautiful walking trail along the castle which allows you to explore the castle on your own. There is a tower right next to the Fortress of Ulm. • Great visit, organized by German Army

  • Nice place to walk around.

  • Not much to see at the fortress itself unless you go into the museum, but the nature around makes for a great hike. Just make sure to wear komfy shoes and pay attention that the fortress is on a hill which means not too many flat paths to walk on. Most of the paths through the surrounding woods are gravel and those which are not are still solid. I was there during the spring which means everything was blooming but during the winter it might be slippery.

  • Nice place for beginners to do Mountain cycling

  • One of the old fortress opens at 11am and closes around 1pm..
