About Apple Store, Philadelphia

Apple Store is a chain of retail stores owned and operated by Apple Inc. The stores sell Mac personal computers, iPhone smartphones, iPad tablet computers, iPod portable media players, Apple Watch smartwatches, Apple TV digital media players, software, and select third-party accessories. The first Apple Stores were originally opened as two locations in May 2001 by then-CEO Steve Jobs, after years of attempting but failing store-within-a-store concepts. Seeing a need for improved retail presentation of the company's products, he began an effort in 1997 to revamp the retail program to get an improved relationship to consumers, and hired Ron Johnson in 2000. Jobs relaunched Apple's online store in 1997, and opened the first two physical stores in 2001. Despite initial media speculation that Apple would fail, its stores were highly successful, bypassing the sales numbers of competing nearby stores and within three years reached US$1 billion in annual sales, becoming the fastest retailer in history to do so. Over the years, Apple has expanded the number of retail locations and its geographical coverage, with 498 stores across 22 countries worldwide as of July 2017. Strong product sales have placed Apple among the top-tier retail stores, with sales over $16 billion globally in 2011. In May 2016, Angela Ahrendts, Apple's current Senior Vice President of Retail, unveiled a significantly redesigned Apple Store in Union Square, San Francisco, featuring large glass doors for the entry, open spaces, and rebranded rooms. In addition to purchasing products, consumers can get advice and help from "Creative Pros" - individuals with specialized knowledge of creative arts; get product support in a tree-lined Genius Grove; and attend sessions, conferences and community events, with Ahrendts commenting that the goal is to make Apple Stores into "town squares", a place where people naturally meet up and spend time. The new design will be applied to all Apple Stores worldwide, a process that has seen stores temporarily relocate or close. Many Apple Stores are located inside shopping malls, but Apple has built several stand-alone "flagship" stores in high-profile locations. It has been granted design patents and received architectural awards for its stores' designs and construction, specifically for its use of glass staircases and cubes. The success of Apple Stores have had significant influence over other consumer electronics retailers, who have lost traffic, control and profits due to a perceived higher quality of service and products at Apple Stores. Apple's notable brand loyalty among consumers causes long lines of hundreds of people at new Apple Store openings or product releases. Due to the popularity of the brand, there are numerous job applications, many of which from young workers. Although Apple Store employees receive above-average pay, are offered money toward education and health care, and receive product discounts, there are limited or no paths of career advancement. A May 2016 report with an anonymous retail employee highlighted a hostile work environment with harassment from customers, intense internal criticism, and a lack of significant bonuses for securing major business contracts.

  • It a great place. The customers Service is awesome. Every time I go there it feel like the future. I recommend at least one to drop by to see it. If you have mac and iPhone issues this is the place to go to get it fix.

  • They have to products, the Service and a Beautiful store. Cameras and security. It must cost a fortune to operate such a store? Their salespeople are all very well trained. Parking is a little difficult/You may be better off with taking SEPTA.

  • Nicest workers ever!!!!! My iPhone 6s Plus stopped charging randomly (turns out I bought a used phone online unknowingly) and I went in to see what they could do. Ended up having to trade the phone with a pretty hefty fee (it was already off warranty) for the same one. My order was incredibly difficult due to technical difficulties with my purchase I made of the phone originally. The workers were efficient, helpful, and kind. I couldn't have asked for better service! Thank you Alex, Regina, Rob, Chris, and basically everyone in the store!!!

  • Excellent Service, Nikki & Chuck were great, pleasant, kind and explained everything. Store is very busy but once the tech is with you they give you their undivided attention and stay with to the end. I felt like a valued customer and they went above and beyond leading to a perfect solution. Thank you!

  • This Store has bad customer service. I had brought headphones from this location on 4/18 the medal piece that goes inside the phones had broken off. I went back to the store on 4/28 and they had told me that they will not be able to replace the headphones because it has physical damage. I explained to the rep that the piece had broken and it was not my fault, he said I can send you to a manager but they are going to say the same thing. He sent me to a manager and she basically said the same thing. I told her I only had the headphones for 18 days and I have a receipt. She said medal do not break and something in my bag probably broke the medal piece, I told here there is nothing in my bag strong enough to break the medial piece to my headphones I told her I am not leaving this store until my headphones get replaced because I did not break them. She said I will replace them this time but I am going to put a note in (AS IF SHE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR) she called a store associated over and said can you replace these because they broke on their own in a sarcastic way. He said oh that's what she said, mind you I am standing right in front of them. I explained to both of them, I can buy anything in this store if I wanted to do not try to down play me like I am trying to get over. I would not have came all the way down here to get over for $30 headphones. she made it seem like she was doing me a favor by giving me free headphones. I paid for something and if they break within 18 days and if I have the receipt, I have the right for them to be replaced because it was a manufacture issue. She ask me 2 times how did they break, I explained to her miss if I knew how they broke I would have told you. People always say this store is bad fro business this is why I go to the Apple store in Cherry. They have a much better vibe and their customer service is awesome.
