About First Bank Of The United States, Philadelphia
The President, Directors and Company, of the Bank of the United States, commonly known as the First Bank of the United States, was a national bank, chartered for a term of twenty years, by the United States Congress on February 25, 1791. It followed the Bank of North America, the nation's first de facto central bank. Establishment of the Bank of the United States was part of a three-part expansion of federal fiscal and monetary power, along with a federal mint and excise taxes, championed by Alexander Hamilton, first Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton believed a national bank was necessary to stabilize and improve the nation's credit, and to improve handling of the financial business of the United States government under the newly enacted Constitution. The First Bank building is now a National Historic Landmark located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, within Independence National Historical Park.Wikipedia

The exterior of the building is beautiful and displays such a great piece of history. The detail of the bank was very impressive, even the gate to the side had much detail involved. It’s nearby other historical buildings as well.
A pre-cursor to the modern Federal Reserve Bank system, not your corner retail bank drive up with ATM/
The First Bank of the United States is one of my favorite buildings in Philadelphia. Designed by Samuel Blodgett, visiting this building is all about the exterior. The interior is not open to the public nor does it date to the 18th Century. But the front facade is an amazing relic of the days when Philadelphia was the capital of the young nation. The pediment contains one of the earliest representations of the American eagle. Look for he images of Mercury, the God of banking over the front door. This is a great place for wedding and engagement pictures.
It is historic place but is closed
Went there for a trip. 10/10 Would visit again for absolutely no reason at all.
