Desert Ridge Marketplace is a super-regional shopping mall located just off the Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard in North Phoenix, Arizona. It was built by Vestar Development Co. and opened in December 2001. The mall has a gross leasable area of 1.2 million square feet (111,000 m²). The mall was targeted at upscale residents of the north East Valley, and of Scottsdale, a five-minute drive from the mall via the freeway. The CityNorth development will adjoin and connect to the Desert Ridge development, but will offer a much more upscale collection of stores than what is currently offered at Desert Ridge to cater to the affluent population of northern Phoenix and Scottsdale.

  • This outdoor mall has really stepped up their game. The mall is really inviting with lots of outdoor patio furniture for sitting and play sets and a water play area for the kids. The water fountains look beautiful and are great spots for pictures. The stage and events that happen every week are enticing. The stores are revamping and have new looks. All in all it's like having a park in an outdoor mall. Really wonderful

  • I love this place. They remodeled recently and it has a beautiful outdoors area where you can sit and watch your kids play in the water fountain, dance to live music, or enjoy the heat from the huge fire place. Lots of stores to shop from and lots of restaurants to choose from. It's a great place to bring family and guests to stroll, shop, or just hang out.

  • 9/21/17 Update: There have been several updates done to Desert Ridge. The kiddie playground is gone, but it looks like they are adding a new one. They have added an awesome age 5 and up playground that my kids love, my 4 year old does great on it, and they love all the climbing walls and ropes. Original Review: Besides the movies, many restaurants and shopping this is a great place to hang out. There is a splash pad, kids playground (no sand, no wood chips)and often many free events such as live music, fake snow in December, water play splash pad that seems to be running 365 days a year and other seasonal displays. My kids love to come here just to get an ice cream cone and walk around.

  • At current time (9-2017) A lot of shops aren't open or are under construction. Visited and it just wasn't that great because of the lack of stores. I remember it being a much better place previously. With that said, it's clean and there are plenty of seats outside. Once they get everything back up and running, it should be pretty decent. Til then, perhaps consider other options for shopping and entertainment.

  • I love desert ridge! There's great shopping and food places. In addition there's another piece of it that's just north east of the main area called High Street where there's some great craft beer bars, a tea and olive oil place, and they have a farmer's market a few months of the year as well
