This is a collection of parks on the mountain area that has been designated to the position of Phoenix Point of Pride. All these parks are marked with desert vegetation and a number of hiking and walking trails. Some also have cycling and biking trails and picnic areas. These places are on the foothills of the Phoenix Mountain and thus provide a lovely view of the whole city. This is also the reason why the place is known as Lookout Mountain Preserve.

The places included in the collection are the Piestewa Peak, Camelback Mountain, Papago Park, North Mountain Shaw Butte Preserves, Phoenix Sonoran Preserves.

  • I know how Lookout Mountain Preserve got its name. I will tell you the story. So two cowboys were riding their horses around the desert here about eighty years ago. On of them drank too much whisky and ran right into a cactus while he got of his horse and was taking a leak. His compadre kepts shouting Look OUT Look OUT but he was listening to his music too loud on his headphones. Oh wait headphones didn't exist eighty years ago.

  • Been hiking/climbing this mountain for a good 25 years. Loved it then and still do. Many trails for all levels of experience

  • Great series of trails for the family. Can either do a short, steep hike to the top or a longer mostly flat hike around the circumference. Both are nice trails with good views of the valley. Dog friendly. Can get crowded and the parking lot is tiny but there is ample parking near by on neighborhood streets.

  • Love this backyard hike! Phoenician Life! 😄🐾

  • It is beautiful and quiet.. you can go here to relax and destress
