Coral Island - Review
This 2.5 kilometer long island’s name doesn’t refer to an underwater paradise. The literal translation of its name is ‘Crowded Island’. Which is understandable, as this is among the closest of islands you can make a day trip to around Phuket. It is recommended that you spend the night. Dining options here are very romantic.
Now while most of the crowd hangs out at Long Beach, and you will find bars pumping music, serving beers, bringing your food and drinks to your sun bed on a beach which constantly has boats coming in and out, most people head to the islands to avoid all this.
So if you want a bit of peace and quiet try getting a boat driver to take you around to Banana Beach or Freedom Beach. Both of these beaches have better snorkeling Waterston Long Beach anyway, and are much more charming to look at too. and both these beaches have restaurants and loungers of their own.
The island also has some trails in its forest, but these can be tricky, and you should wear good shoes.

Coral Island, Phuket Reviews
Coral island is a must see destination if you are visiting Phuket. However you must be having some interest towards beaches, corals and beach activities. The blue waters of sea is a pleasure to eyes. It is less crowded enjoyable place. It is very near to Phuket. Hardly 10 minutes drive in speed boat. Many beach activities are performed there like snorkeling, banana boat, speed boat, scooba diving, paragliding etc. Water is very clear you can enjoy spectacular view of corals. Mind your steps on some of dangerous creatures. Also use SPF 50 cream if you plan to take some sun on. You can buy it any 7 eleven store.
The marketing material makes it sound like it has great snorkeling. Which is a lie. It is still a nice place to see and lunch there was quite nice. My only issue was that the whatever you read about the place makes it sound like it has fantastic snorkeling. Even our guide told us not to expect to much snorkeling. Again still nice place to go for a swim and take a boat out to. But I was lied to regarding the amount we would see snorkeling.
We had a blast. Rented a longboat from rawai for 2 people all day 1000bht the island was empty from 8am until about 10 when the other boats started rolling in. Not many people snorkel far away from the beach so if you are adventurous go if you plan on staying closer to the sand for snorkeling you will not be able to because of the amount of people. So much life by the corals. You can rent snorkel gear for 200bht a person on the island. Beer and little food as sold as well.
We did sea walking here and it was very well arranged and managed. The island has loads of sea activities but unfortunately due to fast winds all the activities were stopped. Fun place to go ...
Crappy snorkelling. Views are nice, but the beach is very overcrowded. Excellent place to practice your Mandarin. Beach could do with a clean. Don't bother coming here. I've been to a lot of beaches in Thailand, and this one rates on the lower end of the spectrum.
