About Coral Island, Phuket

This 2.5 kilometer long island’s name doesn’t refer to an underwater paradise. The literal translation of its name is ‘Crowded Island’. Which is understandable, as this is among the closest of islands you can make a day trip to around Phuket. It is recommended that you spend the night. Dining options here are very romantic.

Now while most of the crowd hangs out at Long Beach, and you will find bars pumping music, serving beers, bringing your food and drinks to your sun bed on a beach which constantly has boats coming in and out, most people head to the islands to avoid all this.

So if you want a bit of peace and quiet try getting a boat driver to take you around to Banana Beach or Freedom Beach. Both of these beaches have better snorkeling Waterston Long Beach anyway, and are much more charming to look at too. and both these beaches have restaurants and loungers of their own.

The island also has some trails in its forest, but these can be tricky, and you should wear good shoes.

Coral Island, Phuket Reviews

  • Travelling to this island in boat beats all the things. Stunning locations around all the corners.. Parasailing is the most enjoyable activity in here. Under Sea walking is also enjoyable... But it's some risky task to do.. Banana Boating and Scuba diving are other activities... We have enjoyed a lot in this Beach.. the water is clear blue.. We enjoyed swimming here...

  • A very beautiful place with a nice sandy beach with Crystal clear waters. Perhaps a few too many boats parked at the shore though, which ruins the scenery a little. Biggest problem is that if you want to swim, you have to wall across loads of sharp stones and coral in the sea. I also found 2 small sea urchins on the sea bed in the shallow areas which I thought was a bit dodgy. I don't recommend going there to swim.

  • Great trip to the island.. Every water sport can be done.. Great ambience, place to hire a boat and unwind.

  • Good place to perform your water sports. Parasailing and Banana boat ride are the key highlights along with snorkeling. These activities are cheap provided you book in advance and come. The only problem is that this place is too crowded and you might want to skip it and try Racha island which is far better than this place. All in all a decent place to visit.

  • Good for learning how to dive. not too expensive. lots of tourists though. good for a few hours
