Freedom Beach - Review

On the west coast of Phuket Island, south of Patong, is a beautiful beach of aquamarine blue waters and soft white sand enclosed by a canopy of green trees. In other words, this is cliche of tropical beauty. The southern section of the beach is one of the best places the entire island for snorkeling. You won't be disturbed by hawkers trying to sell their wares. There are some ramshackle sports facilities, such as volleyball net and football goal posts. Apparently you need to pay to lay down a towel on the sand, even if that's towel is your own. And while this beach is mostly undeveloped, you do get showers and toilets. There's an extremely tasty Thai restaurant on the south end, and there is a massage center next to the restaurant. Visitors usually love this beach for being much cleaner than Patong Beach.

Freedom Beach, Phuket Reviews

  • If you are searching for one of those tropical picturesque beaches this could be one of the places. There are several ways to get there. By bout, taxi or you might do the hike. I did the hike, it was amazing experience it it’s quite rough especially if it’s +35c. On the beach you can find restaurant where you can have delicious meals and cold beverages.

  • It's a little hard to get to the beach (long staircase ) and you have to pay 200B to enter. You not allowed to bring your own food and drinks. They have a restaurant on site though. It's worth checking out. Water is nice and clean and the beach doesn't get crowded

  • There is no tar road directly to the beach. There are 2 short dirt roads that leads close to the beach. A 200Baht fee is asked at both entrances because the land around the beach is privately owned. The place does not really have formal infrastructure but you are able to buy water, cold drinks etc from a local vendor. The beach and water is perfect. Very very clear water and quite warm.

  • Heck of a beach! To get to it, you must hike a good 30mins down the mountain. Once you reach, you truly are FREE! But....still you had to pay a 200THB / person fee to get in, but still, once you’re at the’s all worth it. Warm and clean sands, clear aqua green waters (sometimes aqua blue), and not too overcrowded because not a lot like to work hard on their vacation 😄. Not going to lie, it’s a pain in the neck to hike back up, after your done. But, it’s still worth it.

  • Nice beach that's accessible only by foot or by boat. White sand, clear water, but with dead corals already in shallow water. Nice rocks and palm trees on the right side of the beach. There's many boats and many people, so don't count on being there alone. If you come by foot, you have a 5 minute trek from the parking area through the woods, so wear better shoes than flip flops. If you arrive by foot the entrance fee is 200 baht per person. Free if you arrive by boat. Nice sunset.
