One of the must-do in Picton, the Tirohanga Track is a dedicated hiking area situated right within the city limits of Picton. This 6.5 kilometres of track runs over the volcanic terrain. Offering a good mix of accent and descent, this trail takes you through a stunning bush and offers extensive views of Picton, Waikawa and the Marlborough Sounds.
Tirohanga Track Reviews & Ratings
Like everyone says, "it's worth it". We aren't fit, I have a fear of heights, and we had a dog so it took us over an hour to the top. Nice view. Little wooden bench at top could be bigger, and the names in hearts carved on it were cute. Walk down was quicker. Bring a bottle of water on a sunny day. But don't let being unfit/fat put you off what most treat as a 45 min canopied bush stroll. 🙂
Loved it. Great lookout over Picton
As everyone says, go for the view at the top, but just as nice in my opinion was the stream you have to cross on the way down, assuming you start the track where it says it's located in Google maps. The fact that it loops is a nice plus, and it's not a very long hike. Definitely recommended, you shouldn't be disappointed.
Great little walk with outstanding views of Mt. Stokes and ferries. From the Garden Terrace end, one sign said 45min, another said 1 hour. I'm not in good shape and it was a scorching day, but managed 30min.
Great wee track to walk. Lovely birds.
