Put on your riding gear, grab a hat and saddle up at the Big Rock Dude Ranch at Ponderosa. Time is of no essence here. Escape from the standard tourist traps and take your family for an outing they will not forget. The Smoky Mountain outdoor activities at the Ranch let you travel back in time. Feel what the early settlers experienced some 200 years ago. They crossed these mountains on horseback. That was the only mode of transport through the woods and valleys.

The Big Rock Dude Ranch at Ponderosa has a lot more to offer. Fish in the pond for Blue Gill, Croppy, Catfish, & Bass. They provide the rod, reel and bait and their system is Catch-and-Release. Picnic tables and swings near the pond offer relaxation for the entire family. The fishing pass is valid for a week so you can fish daily for a one-time cost. There is no fishing license required. You also get a complimentary ice cream, bottled water and a bag of animal food for the zoo.

Their gem mining is full of all sorts of Geo's. The flume is located beside the Little Cove Creek and the Kids' Playground. The types of gems in each bag range from Quartz Chrystal, Amethyst, Pyrite, and Blue Calcite. Serpentine, Agate, Rose Quartz, Selenite, Jade, and Turquoise are also there. These gems come from all over the world. Their zoo has goats, rabbits, and ponies. You can pet them and feed them. The llamas, emus, chickens and ducks are very friendly and endearing.

Enjoy a swift snack at Chow Boys Cafe. On the menu are sandwiches, hot dogs, cold drinks, and bottled water. Relax inside the cafe or take your snacks to any of our picnic tables located throughout the ranch. There is a foot bridge to walk over the creek and feel free to wade in. Catch a ride in a 4x4 ATV, and visit some of the most beautiful mountain areas. You start at the bottom of the ranch and go through creeks. Once you are comfortable, you ride up the mountain to the top. And before you head back to the ranch, pick up an authentic keepsake at the General Store.
