The story of the teddy bear is known to every American school child. President Theodore Roosevelt was hunting bear but he could not find any. His guide caught him a little cub and tied it to a tree. Disgusted, Roosevelt refused to shoot the animal, fortifying his reputation as a man of mercy and principle. Political cartoons featured the President and his bear, and toymakers exploited, making stuffed teddies that still fly off the shelves to this day. Bears are not territorial and the Giant Panda is actually a bear. Did you know that unlike a lot of animals, bears can see in colour? He can see you as your see him! You have come to Smoky Mountains to spot a few of these black bears, with no luck. So come to the Three Bears General Store and watch them safely. The store is home to live bears.
It is also the largest gift shop on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. There is an aqua massage bed parlour, an Olde Tyme photo studio and shelves of burning hot sauces. Replica bears stand in an alcove above the door, beneath a banner that reads, "Jesus Saves." The entrance to the bear habitat is located at the back of the store on the second floor, past the children’s toy department. Pay for admission at the habitat entrance, then enter and feed the live black bears. These are Asian black bears, whose native turf is halfway around the world. Their habitat has waterfalls, multiple privacy dens and viewing platform. The habitat is made of cement and you can see the 5 bears playing, or standing on hind legs to attract food from people. The bears are only fed three times a day (to keep off the fat). The treats that you purchase at the cash register are healthy apples and grapes.
Huddled inside, you will find Make-UR-Bear Factory complete with outfits and accessories. A family-sized arcade packed full of fun has a Harley which you can sit on. Or simply chill on the Hillbilly. Their gift shop has Amish jams and jellies and 555 souvenirs. Their handmade fudge is something you have to try. They are proud of their excellent southern hospitality and invites you in.

Three Bears General Store Reviews & Ratings
Really big gift shop, had everything inside including real bears in an enclosure. You can feed them and they are waiting for you to feed them. They aren't native black bears from the mountains, but rescued Asian black bears. I am very happy that they were a rescued animal instead of trapping bears from around there. They could use a little more room so they could run and play more, but they look very healthy. If their enclosure was bigger, then this would be a perfect place to visit. I really enjoyed all the choices they have and the bears are a nice bonus.
Below is my originial review from 9 months ago but I HAD to update due to a recent experience. The manager Robert is AMAZING!!! I was so upset after purchasing a shot glass and coffee mug set when the mug got broken during travel home. I called the store and spoke to Robert to see if I could order one and have it shipped. He went above and beyond to locate the exact mug I was looking for. His customer service is exceptional!!!! This place is always a stop for us while on vacation and after this wonderful experience, it may be our ONLY souvenir stop!!! Love love love this place!! Not only is it the BEST place for souvenir shopping but they also make fudge and other wonderful candy right there. (Buckeyes are a must have) My favorite part of course is feeding the bears!
Loved, loved, loved the water massage machine & the Chi machine!!! Jack is the nicest person ever, very informative as was his assistant. I forget to get her name, just look for a beautiful brunette with a smile to match. It was by far the best money spent in Pigeon Forge all week. We definitely recommend and will most definitely be back! The store was great too, good prices & nice quality items. There's something for everyone!
We had a blast there. If you get there at the right time of day, when the Bears or allowed to have an apple Snack, you can feed them! They had 2 rescued bears from what was called "Killing Farms!" They had a good selection of items that were decently priced! I will be visiting this Store again soon!
I guess i wasn't prepared for it to be 4 different stores all in one but walking in and seeing everything was a bit overwhelming. Everything was organized and staff seemed friendly. The bears were cute and seem to be content in their homes and fed well... I hope they take good care of them.
