The ScareHouse is a haunted house attraction, located at 118 Locust Street, Pittsburgh. Situated in a historic building, it has often been ranked as one of America’s scariest haunted houses. The ScareHouse offers three themed attractions, which they like to call ‘haunts’, which are revised heavily on a yearly basis, to ensure that the scares never get old.

The first production of The ScareHouse began in 1999, and has been happening every year since then. It is typically divided into three ‘haunts’. The first one is known as The Summoning, which features the ‘old ghosts’ of the historic building. The second haunt is the Pittsburgh Zombies Blackout, which is as scary as it sounds. The third one is ‘Creep’s Christmas in 3 D’, an immersive and frightful experience featuring killer clowns. .Another recent addition is the basement, which is as creepy as any of the other haunts!

  • ScareHouse has been ranked as one of “America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions” by Travel Channel and has been featured on Good Morning America, USA TODAY, CBS news, Forbes, Geek & Sundry, and many other national media outlets.
  • In 2013, renowned Hollywood director Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim, Hellboy) visited The ScareHouse and said, “With the sound design and the atmospherics, it is beautiful. I could live here!”

The ScareHouse is not for the faint hearted. It is far from your usual run of the mill haunted houses which are gimmicky and funny at times. If you’re in for a real scare, this is the place to go. You have been warned.

  • Definitely going again this year!!! Went the past two years in a row. Best one so far, as far as haunted houses go for a good Halloween scare.

  • Very cool. The basement attraction isn't scary though just very odd. The main haunt is cool though. I would suggest going with a screamer because they make the experience even better 😈

  • AWESOME!!! The basement I thought was the best one out of all of them! Definitely recommend it for a Halloween event!

  • Scariest attraction in Pittsburgh by far. Highly recommended.

  • Fantastic haunted house. I'll miss working there now that I've moved to another state.
