  • So let me start by saying the staff was very friendly. The room looks amazing and it's like staying on an inside out cruise ship. The front beach is very rocky and they currently have a algae problem. Read up on your beach before going. The pool is nice but there are no beach chairs(as pictures suggest) instead they have couches....I'm not a fan. On our last day the pool was not cleaned and the water was dirty. The breakfast is great and the dinner is pretty good as well. The night staff forwarded a call to my room from one of the street sellers. This was the worst part of my stay. No calls should ever be forwarded to a room....staff should call u first and take down their information. Overall it was still nice

  • I can't say enough good things about this place! We arrived to a very welcoming and well-trained staff who spoke English very well, served us some complimentary drinks, then took us to our room. The rooms are INCREDIBLE. Our room featured a balcony with a world-class ocean view that made waking up an absolute pleasure every day. When you're not sitting on the balcony staring at the ocean, though, the room's modern design and accent-lighting will never fail to put you in a great mood. The room is cleaned to perfection every morning, then turn-down service occurs later in the afternoon. The rooftop pool is an awesome place to spend your afternoons with strong drinks, music, and delicious sushi. Breakfast is included every morning, but paying the few extra pesos for the Champion's Breakfast, which features upgraded main dishes (eggs benedict cooked to perfection) and unlimited mimosas, made breakfast every morning perhaps the highlight of our trip. The concierge at the front desk is extremely knowledgeable and is a great source if you want to plan a day trip to do one of Playa del Carmen's many activities (they were also able to secure us a cab to the airport for an excellent price on our last day there). Or you can walk to pretty much anything you can imagine since The Carmen is located in the heart of Playa, literally a few steps away from the best restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. We had an incredible time here and will be back in the very near future!

  • Wasn’t bad at all! Especially on Saturdays too much fun many people in the pool! Hot dancers and great music! And I found a intimate surprise at the room (some box with great stuff on it)

  • Overall the experience was great. Location is great, on the beach and block from 5th ave. Loved the rooftop pool and bar area. Great place to relax, drink, meet people, and soak in the sun. Rooms are very modern, and well designed. Staff is friendly and help you with things you need to make your experience great. One thing I noticed, there were especially two hotel staff that I found very greedy for tips. I left $20 US for two people to share for a $420 pesos drinks bill. The lady was very happy but the guy, Louis, was very unhappy and greedy although I clearly mentioned it is American dollar and not $20 pesos. And there was another guy I have no idea who he was and he never served me anything but was shouting as I was grabbing my ride back to the airport, to leave all my pesos with him. I am very much aware they expect tips and I am a good tipper. The hotel staff should get rid of these two to keep their reputation.

  • The stay was ok and the staff was decently helpful. However when we left the hotel tried to get us to pay an extra $270 dollars for taxes that supposedly weren't included in the $1400 that we paid and when we argued the charges we were told the employee that checked us in would have to pay that out of her own pocket. Said employee then contacted my wife and I four times begging us to pay before the hotel went and charged the card anyway. We are currently fighting those charges. *update* after speaking with our bank we found out the the unauthorized charge that was made to my wife's card was signed for by an employee. To no surprise to us, hotel management isn't cooperating and won't tell us who made the charge or let us see the signature that was used. No one has offered any type of compensation or anything for having committed fraud.
