The Plovdiv Ethnographic Museum is the second largest specialized museum of it’s kind in Bulgaria. The museum preserves over 40,000 exhibits inside Kuyumdzhieva house, which is a fine example of the Bulgarian Baroque architecture from the National Revival Period. Ethnographic Museum, Plovdiv Reviews

  • A neat museum located in a gorgeous home. The house is just as important as the artifacts inside. I included a price list in one of my pics

  • An amazing place summarizing in a simple visual way the cultural heritage, social and economic heritage of the whole region of Plovdiv...How the industrials, peasants and others used to live...the place is very well organized and surrounded by a splendid wonderful garden...definitely recommended to visit !

  • A very nice museum housed in a former goldsmith's house. The house itself is as much on display as the artifacts. The house and all its contents date from the Bulgarian revival period in the 1800s. The artifacts showcase the guilds and regional clothing. It's worth a visit. There is a separate charge of 6 leva if you want to take photos inside the house. The courtyard in front of the house is a lovely place to sit and rest, even if you don't go inside the house.

  • Given the relative contempt Bulgaria has for its history ( and here I speak of action, and not national spirit, which is found in abundance) I had low expectations of the museum. However, I was amazed by the quality of the building, and the exhibitions held within. A real gem of a place done (almost) right. Highly knowledgeable staff, and a truly beautiful place. I say almost right, since the exhibits could do with some form of contextual information which is sadly lacking. There is a book for sale at the payment desk which I hope will fill in some of the blanks for me. Can I give this place 6 stars?

  • Quite interesting museum with plenty of cultural, sociological and historical information on the societies of very ancient and more recent societies that lived in Bulgaria. Not very interactive though, and this museum could get much be modernized to better fit their current visitors.
