  • Yes. Yes. Yes. Tipped off to Pavaj by Vino culture we were incredibly surprised by the quality. The Balkan Trout was excellent. Tender and sweet. But the star was the naked eggplant. I am dreaming of this dish right now. The eggplant is baked to bring out the natural sweetness and topped/filled with tomato paste, lentils, and feta. Baked eggplant like this is common in all Makedonian cooking but Pavaj does it the best. Just GREAT. Service and price were both well suited to the quality of the meal. Completely awesome experience.

  • We came to visit this place for lunch full of promise of 5 star rating. The place looks really nice and the menu sounded tasty. We ordered 3 salads and one hot meal. Salads arrived very quickly but the hot meal took forever. We had to remind the waitress that we were still waiting for 3 drinks after 20min. No one informed us that the meat balls would take a lot longer so we just kept waiting. Half an hour later one of the family member had to make a decision to cancel that order as everyone else had finished their meals. The owner, as I assumed, quickly came to see us, but the situation escalated very quickly as he started insulting his customers. Calling us poor, asking to leave there and then, and saying that he doesn't want our money. I can appreciate Bulgarian culture of sending food at random and I have no problem with that. The salad I had was tasty and raspberry lemonade interesting. However, the way that we were treated in front of everyone else was unnecessary. He could have taken comments from one dissatisfied customer on the chin like a professional! I can only suggest that the owner gets help and treatment for anger management. Very disappointing. 🤧

  • Tasty well presented local food in a convivial, low key setting. Interesting Bulgarian-only wine list. Slightly over-zealous service the only major downside. Comprehensive rakia selection. Helpful staff.

  • Food and service were great. It is very small and not as cozy as so many other restaurants in Plovdiv. We visited on a super hot day in July. After walking around town for hours we were looking forward to cooling off somewhere with good food. Food was really good but be ware there is no air conditioning in that place. Being so small, the place just felt stuffy. Portions are not big.

  • Excellent location in the midst of Kapana. The host did an excellent job in sitting us quickly on a busy public holiday and we were especially pleased we got a table outside. Great choice of rakia and wine. We enjoyed the food too - eggplant dish, ribs, chicken livers and salads. I would go back again.
