Van Swamp Game Lands comprise of shrubland habitats and hardwood swamp forest. There are bird watching opportunities available in the park as many migrating and breeding bird species like Brown-headed Nuthatch, Yellow-bellied sapsucker, Black throated green warbler and many more can be spotted in the park. The shrubland habitats in the site are dense and are not traversable on foot. The Hollis road, towards the north side of the park is perfect for bird watching. Van Swamp Game Lands allow seasonal hunting to its visitors.
