vintgar gorge was discovered in the late 19th century as an impassable cooped up natural destination. It was only later that this place a reinstated with wooden galleries and artificial touch up to attract more crowd. The name ‘vintgar’ originated from a German word ‘Weingarten’ which literally translates to wine garden depicting the numerous vineyards around. There is a beautiful waterfall, spread over an area of 13 meters, that lies at the end of the gorge and gathers the major number of tourists. People also come here to witness the old stone railway bridge built in here. One can enjoy activities like lavish walks, a crisp hiking rendezvous, and sightseeing in this gorge. Shutterbugs can do a lot of picture clicking while they are at it.

  • Fantastic colours in Autumn. The spring melt water would make an awesome spectacle with the higher water levels. The walkways are narrow in places which could make access more challenging during busy times - to improve this would negatively impact the natural beauty of the gorge, so worth leaving alone. Some good connecting walks at the far end of the gorge, so a good start point.

  • A beautiful gorge... It has a small entry fee with a minor student discount... A couple of washrooms at the start and the end... A fairly big parking I would say which happens to be quite close to the gorge... There trail from there is quite short, 1.6 km or something from end to end... The view is really beautiful and it's quite easy to get to the rocks and walk along them or on them, if one had the inclination... The parking was free...

  • One of my favourite attractions in Slovenia. Walking through the gorge and being near emerald green water was unlike anything else I’ve seen. I recommend if you are in Slovenia you go. Don’t let the hoards of tourists deter you! It’s still worth it.

  • An absolute must if you're in the area. But as with everything beautiful - it's popular. Get there early and preferably in the off season to avoid the squeeze. There's a nice little cafe at the end which is great for a nice cup of tea and a snack. A definite highlight from my trip to Bled

  • The waterfall was serene and beautiful. The breeze was fresh and the sound of waterfall was loud enough that we could hardly listen to each other. The small water droplets falling on us were quite refreshing. It was a great feeling to be in the heart of nature. And, as told by our host, we had gone before rush hour so we met people on way back. And we were thankful for his advice because the place had started filling up by the time we were coming back.
