About Poon Hill, Pokhara

Breathtaking views and spectacular scenery awaits you when you reach atop Poon Hill. In most countries, Poon Hill would be called a mountain, but here in the Himalayas it is certainly a hill. Poon Hill is one of the most famous viewpoints in the world and in Nepal, it is probably the second most famous viewpoints after Kala Pattar.

There are many options to extend a trip here, and the only limits to the length of the trek are time and imagination. There are lodges all along the route so there’s little need to carry a huge pack. The trek is very popular and can be very crowded, so in other words, expect a great trip with lots of mountain views, but don’t expect solitude. The trail passes through several interesting villages and different cultures, and the scenery is also very spectacular.

  • A great view of the surrounding mountains. Most tourists come here for the sunrise, but if you have time, make sure to be there for sunset. It is beautiful as well and there will be almost no tourists, making it an especially unique experience.

  • After walking the Annapurna Circuit I felt it was over rated. The view of the mountain's was closed in by low cloud. However for those without enough time to walk the circuit it will be a good mountain experience. The chances of getting a clear morning for sunrise on Poon Hill is with the mountain godess's so give it a go. The rhododendrons were in flower for us, mid to late April, they were the most spectacular part of the morning for us.

  • Amazing view point. First time to trek that long the day before to reach the guesthouse. Definitely recommended! Pack very warm with boots! It's icy/frosty up there!

  • Beautiful panoramic view of more than 10 mountain peaks, a lovely place to travel, through the rhododendron forest. You feel so relieved and peaceful, a short and sweet trek @annapurnaconservationarea #milleniumtrek

  • Great place to observe the Himalayan range of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Macchapuchhre, Mt.Himchuli and others.. In the morning time, you can go up to the tower and see one of the world’s best sunrise! The mountains seems as they are standing against fire showing there beauty and strength! Great view, satisfaction, peace of mind and pleasure for own.
