Breathtaking views and spectacular scenery awaits you when you reach atop Poon Hill. In most countries, Poon Hill would be called a mountain, but here in the Himalayas it is certainly a hill. Poon Hill is one of the most famous viewpoints in the world and in Nepal, it is probably the second most famous viewpoints after Kala Pattar.

There are many options to extend a trip here, and the only limits to the length of the trek are time and imagination. There are lodges all along the route so there’s little need to carry a huge pack. The trek is very popular and can be very crowded, so in other words, expect a great trip with lots of mountain views, but don’t expect solitude. The trail passes through several interesting villages and different cultures, and the scenery is also very spectacular.

  • A once in a lifetime experience. We climbed Poon Hill early in the morning and were fortunate enough to be able to get panoramic views of the Himalayas in the Annapurna region as it was a clear day. The climb from Ghorepani takes about an hour but it's worth it to catch the sunrise, bring a hat!

  • Long hike to get up to the small town nearby, where you will stay the night. After a 45 min hike before sunset, you get to the top of the hill for an impressive view of the Annapurna mountains. This is one of the things that made our trip worth the hard work!

  • Views here are just unreal, well worth the 4am hike to the top. Watching the sunset hit the peaks was once in a lifetime stuff.

  • We stayed the night at Ghorepani and went there for the sunrise. The sky was clear, and the view was breathtaking. It was October and yet it was cold, so the hot tea served there was much needed.

  • Go early in the morning to see the beautiful sunrise from the top of the Poon hill. Watching the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs kissing the first rays of the day is a very mesmerizing sight.
