It is a barrage built across the Mahaweli River at Polgolla, in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It became operational in July 1976 and as on date has installed capacity of 40 MW. A peaceful place to spend an evening by taking a stroll alongside the reservoir along with the nice landscape surrounding it. For all the nature lovers, be it young or old this is an ideal location to breathe in fresh air as well as admire the miracles of science of generating electricity through water which is further used for irrigation. Take a breath in and let go off all the negativities when you reach here.
