Built in 1885, the Government Saw Mill Chatham in the Chatham Island is the oldest and the largest sawmill in entire Asia. As you enter the Government Saw Mill Chatham, you will see how the huge piles after piles of logs are brought here, sorted and then cut through the hideous-looking saw, standing by which itself is horrifying to see how sharp it is. Check out the warehouse to see the stacked up wooden planks to be sent elsewhere and also the workshop to marvel at the padauk wood furniture, masks, showpieces, toys and more. There is also the bomb pit filled with water which was created by a bomb during the World War II.
