The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Memorial Centre for Culture is an important part of Mauritian history. Home to the first post-independence Prime Minister of the country, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (SSR) is fondly referred to as the Father of Independence. To honour his memory, his colonial styled home has been transformed into a memorial centre. The memorial centre has exhibits on SSR’s life and pivotal moments from his life, including quotes from his most famous speeches. One of the seven rooms have been dedicated to photos of various leaders who visited SSR to promote international relations.
