Standing on the Steinhuder Meer, the Aussichtsturm or the Observation Tower is one of best lookout spots to enjoy an ethereal sunrise or sunset over the lake. The tower is a favourite site amongst photographers, especially landscape and bird photographers as from here you will see the nesting sites of the water birds like Grebes and record their habitat. The upper floor of the Aussichtsturm rises four metres above the lake water level and the observation deck is secured from high tide. The thriving nature reserve on both sides of the tower will let you sight a number of birds and native animals.
