This is the oldest word vertical lift bridge in the United States and the oldest highway bridge in the city. It's made of steel. It is 421 meters long and 22 meters wide. It was built in December 1910 to replace an earlier wooden bridge. The sidewalks of the bridge are connected to the East Bank Esplanade. It’s a good place to catch the sunrise or sunset. It is the busiest bicycle and transit bridge in the state.
