About Peninsula Park And Rose Gardens, Portland
This is the only sunken rose garden in Portland, designed in French-style parterre, is over one hundred years old and was instrumental in defining the city’s official rose - the Mme. Caroline Testout. This was the original location of the rose shows before that event moved to Washington Park. It has 5,700 roses of 75 varieties. Also check out the garden’s fountain and the old music pavilion. Brickways take you around the formally planned garden. It is the most beautiful in the spring, but the liveliest in the summer, when concerts and weddings are held here by the dozens at the octagonal bandstand/gazebo.
