Rocky Butte is a cinder cone park which occupies 9 hectares of land in Boring Lava Field of Portland. Since its establishment in 1993 it gives access to Joseph Wood Hill Park. You can find a rotating beacon near the summit at night. As it is situated in an elevation of 187 meters, climbing is the most preferable activity here. You can find near about 154 climbing routes which are all quite risky. But you can opt for the easy ones either traditional climbing or lead climbing. Rocky Butten does not offer any official trail but you can hike on the primary trail which was explored by the common people.

Rocky Butte Reviews & Ratings
Don't put it off go as soon as you can Amazing view
Terrific views both day and night. Watch planes take off and land, get a 360 view of Portland, and view both rivers. FREE parking all around. Easy walk up to the top. I witnessed an entertaining scene from a Harry Potter film with 4 people shooting Roman candles at each other, brilliant! The neighborhood that you drive through to get to the top is lined with beautiful custom homes.
Nice spot to catch a sunrise. Regular daylight isn't half bad either.
Came on a Saturday to see the sunset. Lots of people there. Overall a nice place to go chill and have a picnic. Would do again despite the large amount of people there.
