The San Giorgio Church or the Chiesa San Giorgio is easily the most prominent church of Portofino. It is a Catholic Church and has gathered a lot of followers ever since its inception. It is believed that this church was built in the year 1154 and the architecture is that of Romanesque style. Although, a reconstruction had to be done after the Second World War, but even then a small chapel was found. The church is dedicated to St George, who was the patron of Portofino and is definitely worth praying at.

  • Coming up on the steps from the marina, one turns left to go to castello brown and the lighthouse ( al faro). But if one turns right for a few metres, steps go up to this beautiful church ( free to enter) but the views are to die for. Not to miss!

  • When visiting Portofino take a few steps up the hill and enjoy the view over the village and the sea.

  • Amazing view over Portofino bay, definitely a place I will visit if I’m in the area again.

  • Quaint little church with a unique cemetery. Wonderful view of the port.

  • I DIDN'T PARTICULARLY LIKE THE CHURCH ITSELF BUT (AS WITH MANY CHURCHES IN ITALY) THE LOCATION IS JUST GREAT. FANTASTIC VIEWS.
