  • We had a table for 15 booked for 6pm on a Thursday evening, the view of the sea was fabulous through the huge windows, I ordered Thai fishcake for starters, came in a reasonable amount of time, main I chose Beer battered fish, chips and peas, 2 generous pieces of fish, slightly oily batter but still delicious though I couldn't detect any taste of beer whatsoever in the batter. Dessert I chose was warm Chocolate fudge cake and ice cream which was absolutely delicious so greedy me ordered the same desert again. No one on our table had a problem with the food or service, our waitress a dark haired girl was very efficient, I wish I took note of her name for this review. There seems to be a number of poor reviews but we never experienced any problems. I definitely will return and hope for the same experience.

  • Great food, large portions! Exceptional value in 2-course lunch for £10. Wonderful view too as you eat!

  • Family and I recently visited 55 north. As cafe was so busy we had to go upstairs to the restaurant, which by no means was very busy with plenty of empty tables. Shown to table by lovely woman. We only wanted coffee, toast for our baby and two desserts. In any other restaurant this would've been no problem, seeing as we weren't ordering mains. We were made to feel so uncomfortable by two members of waiting staff, who pointed out that if we wanted just a light meal the cafe downstairs would be better suited. When we stated it was too busy for us to maneuver our pram, we were met with a sour admonishment and a look of bewilderment. Another member of staff was repeatedly staring over at us. I never comment on any service we receive at restaurants but we were made to feel so uncomfortable we literally downed our dessert and coffee and couldn't wait to get out of the place. Frankly one of the worst experiences we have had in a long time and had we known our simple order was going to cause us much hassle, we wouldn't have gone in. Most certainly we will not be back. Very poor.

  • Excellent value early bird offer. Packed on Saturday evening. Buzz about the place. Had to wait 40 minutes for our table to come free. Worth the wait though.
