The Nauen Gate was designed by architect Johann Gottfried Büring on the orders of Frederick the Great who insisted on the classic Gothic and medieval architecture of the gate. Today, the structure, located close to the Dutch quarters, celebrates the 18th century and is a pleasant place for a quite stroll. In the evening, after dark, the gate is illuminated and its ash-colored structure turns into a golden silhouette- a vision in itself.

Nauener Tor Reviews & Ratings
From a historical point of view, this is an interesting place. From an aesthetic point of view, it’s just normal. The interest can only be caused by someone who would like to make some not ordinary photo or draw that gates. So, overall, this is just an ordinary old gate.
I love the Nauener Tor. The history behind it is fascinating and goes to show the age and development of inner Potsdam. It's near a wonderful sortiment of cafés and restaurants, so you can sit outside and enjoy the view! It's right next to the Dutch quarters and the downtown part of the city. If you are visiting Potsdam, you have got to at least check it out! Plus, if you are taking the tram 96 or 92, you can drive through the gate! Pretty neat stuff!
Such a beautiful place.
Very nice views around the Tor
