Built in 1868, the youngest synagogue in Prague stands on the site of the oldest Prague Jewish house of prayer. It was designed in a Moorish style by Vojtech Ignatz Ullmann. Its interior, including the stained glass windows are a sheer delight to the eyes.

The Spanish Synagogue has a regular square plan with a large dome surmounting the central space. The nave is surrounded on three sides by galleries. The remarkable interiors feature a low stucco arabesque style of intricate motifs which are also applied to the walls, doors and galleries. The Synagogue houses intriguing exhibitions retelling the stories of the Bohemian and Moravian Jews.

This magnificent building now forms part of the Jewish Museum in Prague, so can be visited during the day. In the evening it becomes a wonderful setting for classical concerts.
