This is a cute story. The site of the centre originally used to be a chicken farm, where Ann grew up. It was her habit to nurse injured animals back to health. When she was given two cheetah cubs they were confiscated and sent to the National Zoological Gardens as the transfer had been made without the appropriate paperwork filed. However, the zoo’s urban setting limited the expansion of its captive breeding programme. Ann appealed to the zoo to use her own facilities for the same purpose and the zoo agreed. The cheetahs aren’t the only animals here. Reverie rabbits, Cape vultures and brown hyenas are among the other endangered animals reared here, and they just as every bit as loved as the animals that inspired this sanctuary. With the experienced guides to help you, you can even get intimate with the cheetahs, enough for a wildcat sheltie.
