About Groenkloof Nature Reserve, Pretoria
What the reserve doesn’t offer in terms of novelties, it more than makes up for in terms of experience. Set near the Fountain Valley, the reserve offers visitors their own method of travel. You can clamber atop a horse, hike, and roll around on a mountain bike or just lounge through in a 4X4. The animals to watch out for include impala, kudu, wildebeest, ostrich, giraffe, red hartebeest and sable. And that’s not even starting on what an incredible paradise this is for bird lovers. You can even camp overnight. There are activities for all ages and fitness levels, so no one is going to get shortchanged on their preferred level of fun. Deep in the reserve, you will come on the famous Mayo Restaurant. No matter what else you do, make sure to have a meal there. Its perfect for outdoors. You get everything in one place. Hiking, cycling, walking, wild life, picnicking, swimming, camping, and most excitingly heritage . I love it. Can go there anytime.
I enjoyed my cycling on the course. Not a bad selection of animals, if you think it is basically still in the city.
Yo that 10km hike Gotta have great shoes for hiking and then yourself Bump into some giraffe or zebra and continue with ur hike People you can walk to town after that hike or just call a group of friends and braai Pitty the entrance fees just went up
Enjoyed everything bout The Big Walk, ubuntu displayed by all South Africans... vibrant colours, outdoors activities & live entertainment.....definitely going again next year tagging the family along dog & all...
Nice space, does not feel like you are so close to the city. The facilities need a lot of attention. We were at the lapa and the toilet facilities need some urgent attention. It smells and most of the taps and toilets are just barely working. Such a pitty as it can be a great place to unwind. Would likely be much better in summer as it was very dry and brown and if you do go take proper shoes as there is thorns EVERYWHERE.
