About Groenkloof Nature Reserve, Pretoria
What the reserve doesn’t offer in terms of novelties, it more than makes up for in terms of experience. Set near the Fountain Valley, the reserve offers visitors their own method of travel. You can clamber atop a horse, hike, and roll around on a mountain bike or just lounge through in a 4X4. The animals to watch out for include impala, kudu, wildebeest, ostrich, giraffe, red hartebeest and sable. And that’s not even starting on what an incredible paradise this is for bird lovers. You can even camp overnight. There are activities for all ages and fitness levels, so no one is going to get shortchanged on their preferred level of fun. Deep in the reserve, you will come on the famous Mayo Restaurant. No matter what else you do, make sure to have a meal there. The management is excellent; their tips and advice is intuitive of every visitors needs.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve, Pretoria Reviews
Beautiful place, we saw lots of animals. It's very quiet and a great place to spend the day for a family outing or a group of friends. There's also this cool guy who sells really great coffee and lots of nice beverages (hot and cold) we had a really good time.
A wonderful place for a peaceful hike, you would never know you were so close to the city, except for the annoyance of vehicle sounds from the nearby highway on some parts of the trail. Plenty of animals live in the area, going by how often you come across dung on the trails. Watch your step. I saw giraffe, zebra and some buck along the way. At the beginning/end if the trail there are restrooms as well as a picnic and play area.
Hiking trial very scenic and area well kept. Quite novel to interact (sort of) with the widlife. 4x4 Route relaxing but not very technical, however a nice 2hr refresher trip.
Lovely trails but not very steep. The place is well kept, very green and refreshing. It's also safe. The views are okay but the animals are highlight of the hike. I would happily return to this hiking spot.
It's a very good place to spend the weekend. It has monuments of former leaders and famous people of Africa. But it lacks a cafe or restaurant. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.
